Logbook Servicing in Malaga

You are not required to use the dealership to keep your new-car warranty. You are required to have the service done to the manufacturer's schedule, properly, with the right parts — which is what we do.

Malaga workshop Mon–Fri 8:00am–5:00pm Sat 8:00am–12:00pm Auto electrical, AC & mechanical in-house

The dealership is not compulsory

Under Australian Consumer Law, a manufacturer cannot void your new-vehicle warranty simply because an independent workshop carried out the servicing. What is required is that the service follows the manufacturer's schedule, uses parts and fluids meeting their specification, and is properly documented.

So if you have been told servicing must happen at the dealer to keep the warranty, that is not how it works. Keep your records, have the book stamped, and your position is protected.

What the service includes

  • Your vehicle's schedule at that interval — not a generic oil-and-filter regardless of what the book specifies.
  • Correct-specification oil and filters. The specification matters far more than the brand, and modern engines are specific about it.
  • The scheduled inspection items for that service, worked through properly.
  • Brake inspection — pad and rotor condition, fluid condition.
  • Battery and charging system test, which is where our auto electrical side earns its keep — a battery on the way out gets caught before it leaves you stranded.
  • Air conditioning performance check. Gradual refrigerant loss is invisible until a hot day, and a check at service time catches it.
  • A full scan for stored fault codes, including ones not yet triggering a warning light.
  • Tyre condition and pressures, reading the wear pattern.
  • Your logbook stamped and the service recorded.
  • A clear report separating what is urgent, what is worth doing soon, and what simply needs watching — with no pressure to do it all today.

Two checks most services skip

The charging system. Plenty of services test the battery. Fewer test the alternator output and the system's ability to actually recharge under load. A battery that keeps failing is often a charging fault, and replacing batteries does not fix it.

Air conditioning performance. AC deteriorates slowly, so you notice it on the first genuinely hot day — which is also the week every workshop in Perth is booked out. A vent temperature check at service time is a few minutes and tells you whether you have a summer coming.

What affects the price

We quote after we have looked at the vehicle, because an honest number needs the actual fault rather than a description of it. What moves the price on this kind of work:

  • Diagnostic time. An obvious fault is quick; an intermittent one that only appears when hot, cold or over a bump takes longer to reproduce and confirm.
  • Part cost for your specific vehicle. This varies enormously between makes — European parts are frequently multiples of the equivalent for a common Japanese model.
  • Access. Some components are behind a dash, a subframe or an engine mount. The part can be cheap and the labour the opposite.
  • Whether the fault has caused secondary damage that also needs addressing.
  • Whether coding or calibration is required after fitting.

You get the number before the work starts, and nothing extra happens without you approving it first.

Warranty on this work

Workmanship and parts are covered. The specific period depends on the job and on the part supplier's own warranty, so the terms that apply to your repair are set out on your invoice — ask us to walk you through them before you approve the work if you would like it clear up front.

This sits alongside your rights under Australian Consumer Law, which apply regardless of what any warranty document says.

Frequently asked questions

Do you do logbook servicing without voiding my warranty?

Yes. Under Australian Consumer Law your new-vehicle warranty is not voided by using an independent workshop, as long as the service follows the manufacturer's schedule and uses parts and fluids of the correct specification. We service to the schedule, stamp the book and keep the records.

Does independent logbook servicing affect a warranty?

Not when it is done correctly and documented. The requirement is the standard of the work and the specification of the parts, not the identity of the workshop.

Do you stamp the logbook?

Yes, and the service is recorded so your history stays complete.

Do you use genuine parts?

We use parts and fluids meeting the manufacturer's specification, which is what protects your warranty. Where genuine is the right choice for a component we will say so; where a quality equivalent meets spec we will tell you that too, and the choice is yours.

How often should my car be serviced?

Follow the interval in your logbook, which is set by distance or time, whichever comes first. Vehicles doing lots of short trips, towing, or carrying constant load often warrant tighter intervals than the book minimum.
